The single best dining experience in Anchorage for came from the Northeast area called Muldoon. I had passed a restaurant called "Northern China" many times, and I finally decided to stop by there during a major rainstorm.
I was the only person there, and the clouds were probably the grayest of the Anchorage summer, and the rain was pouring at a rather unfriendly level.
As soon as I entered "Northern China" I found I was approached by a friendly smiling woman, and she asked me to sit and brought hot tea.
She was friendly, but it did not come across as someone who was just looking to get a tip. It was the perfect blend between someone who is doing their job and someone who is actually nice and cares.
I ordered the Princess Beef and a fried noodle appetizer.
As I waited, I had the chance to read the sign on the wall, which read about the cuisine of Manchuria in Northern China.
The food was great. It was not a knockout, but the friendliness of the employees went all the way. The server even seemed genuinely impressed with my mediocre abilities with chopsticks.
